Miro Pajic joins Tic Tac Toe Records

15/08/2009

Miro Pajic is new on Tic Tac Toe, but definitely no newcomer at all. He has been in the electronic scene since the early 90’ties where he was one of the very big players within the hardcore scene, producing under tons of aliases for, amongst others, the PCP crew. With over 70 releases his status still remains as a true legend for the hardcore heads.

Miro will release a 3 tracker on Tic Tac Toe digital in September 2009.

Mark-Henning joins the Tic Tac Toe roster!

23/01/2009

Mark-Henning

We are happy to announce that Mark-Henning, Berlin based Londoner, will do the next vinyl release on Tic Tac Toe (TTT027), coming out in a few months (March/April).

Mark is a busy man, with lot’s of international gigs, releases/remixes on well established highclass labels and so on, so we are more than happy that he decided to join the Tic Tac Toe family.

Below you can read his biography and discography while waiting for his fantastic first release on Tic Tac Toe.

London’s Mark-Henning has risen up as one of the international underground’s true players – recording for a volley of acclaimed European labels by night and slaving as a corporate whore by day. But now he has freed himself from the 9 to 5 shackles and slog of the city to concentrate on his passion for music full time – ROCK N’ROLL!

Born in 1977 to English and German parents, he has spent most of his life in England, though has never forgotten his German techno roots and has recently relocated to Berlin. Inspired by a whole range of music (from Dan Bell to Dinosaur Jr. to Ed Rush & Optical), Mark-Henning’s sound sits somewhere between house and techno, with a healthy dose of futuristic bleeps, funk, darkness, groove and deepness. His releases have found their way into the record boxes of the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Craig Richards, Akufen, Mr C, Laurent Garnier and Richie Hawtin to name just a few. Additionally his tracks have been licensed to recent Fabric and Minus compilations – as well as acheiving airplay on radio stations worldwide.

He has established himself as a player in the scene over the last couple of years, not just through his productions (on labels such as Soma, Cynosure, Trapez, Freude am Tanzen, Foundsound, Einmaleins, Frankie, Morris Audio, Safari Electronique, Mo’s Ferry, Milnor Modern), but also through his world-wide performances – mixing up deep house, techno and everything in between to get dancefloors kicking up a sweat.

Balancing his heavy day job in London with his music wasn’t easy, but the hard work over the past few years is beginning to pay off. Mark-Henning is now a sought-after producer and remixer in the underground scene and his DJing has taken him around the world. He’s performed in the US, Canada, Japan, Russia, Australia and all over Europe – and now also holds a residency at ‘Home’ near Frankfurt in Germany. Having released his debut album on the legendary UK label Soma Recorings in the summer of 2008 to great acclaim, he’ll now be concentrating on further solo work and new collaborations, as well as touring his live PA.

Sian

18/06/2008

Born in Dublin Ireland, raised gypsy style in southern Spain, Sian chose early to drop out of society, make music and be saved by art, committing to the avantgarde way of life, he lives like life is golden. He has made notable records for Aus, Pokerflat, Karmarouge, Dessous and has been remixed by Gui Boratto, Steve Bug, Efdemin, Roland Appel and Sweet n Candy. Total workaholic spaced out nature junkie, he is known for wild DJ sets and a unique flair behind the decks. His DJ-ing adventures have taken him all over, from the nicest clubs and festivals in Europe to dates in Canada, South America, Australia and beyond. After standout singles with current electronica labels, he has gathered great press attention from Mixmag, Groove.de, DJmag, IDJ, De:bug, XLR8 etc, with airplay from main stations and presenters covering worldwide dance music shows (recently his tracks have been playlisted on 3 essential mixes for BBC1). His tracks end up in the record boxes the main techno/house luminaries, and he has received great feedback from the likes of Carl Craig, Loco Dice, Ame, Ben Watt, Marc Romboy, Steve Lawler, Laurent Garnier, Nic Fanciulli, Ripperton, Funk Dvoid, Patrick Chardronnet, Shinedoe, 3Channels, Martin Landsky, Dj Koze, and Anja Schneider. Demand is now heating up for his remixes including projects such as Sportclub, Gui Boratto, Looselips (Audiofly), Simon Baker, Sebastian Roya and Vegetable Orchestra project (other remixers on this project are Anja Schneider, Luciano, Villalobos).

One to watch for sure,a diverse and original emerging talent…

Swat Squad

24/03/2008

“Músic has been a part of my life since I can remember”, recalls Oliver Henares; “in 2002 I
thought Spain had a lot to say in the international electronic music arena, and we decided to create Pulsewith Records; my dream became true”. Little by little Swat Squad to be known in the European scene. His first releases in 2004 for Pulsewith and Regular recieved many compliments and were supported by renowed artists like John Tejada, Maetrik and Jeff
Bennett, among others. Frankie Records commissioned Swat Squad its seventh release, Thinner netlabel also showed interest in the producer from Barcelona and the album the artists did became the most downloaded release in the history of the label… But something bigger was still to happen. In mid 2005 Trapez included Swat Squad in its roster when it released Gecko (Trapez 53). The record caused sensation; with tracks by Swat Squad, Alex Under and Iñaqui Marín, it represented a full Spanish assault on a European market till then dominated by German producers. Well-known artists like Dominik Eulberg played the record set after set. The Spanish raid to the heart of Cologne was only in its first steps. After his job for Trapez,
Swat Squad did work for Traum and was latter to be included in Trapez’s Triple R Selection compilation. Another Kompakt flagship was also interested in Swat Squad: Oliver Henares this time joined forces with Alecs Marta to create Marciano Homeless, an EP released by Treibstoff and praised by the music press as well as by the general public. De:Bug, Groove and Trax (who included the track Marciano Homeless in one of their compilations) were some of the magazines who gave support to it. Described as “the most astounding dance music of the
moment”, this EP marked the beginning of a good relationship and consacrated Swat Squad reputation in Europe. From then on, labels like Galaktika, Gastspiel, Morris Audio, Software, Regular or Minisketch, including newborns like Plot and Sounderground demanded Swat Squad’s works. But in the second half of 2006 three consecutive released mark a new milestone in the career of this Catalan producer. Trapez asks three top producers to remix the first EP Swat Squad did for them. Audio Werner, Ryan Crosson and Franklin de Costa do, as expected, a gread job with Escoria Remixes. After that, Swat Squad joins Davide Squillace (Ovum/Minisketch) and they both sign with Resopal to launch Panik Reinterpretation, a limited edition vinyl that helps in bringing up Oliver Henares as one of the most sought after producers.

Trentemøller

23/03/2008

Anders Trentemøller made his debut in 1997 together with DJ T.O.M. when they formed the first live-house act in Denmark, Trigbag, and started playing lots of concerts at home and abroad. Some of these include three successful gigs at The Roskilde Festival, but also a number of remixes and the release of the Trigbag single ‘Showtime’ which international DJ’s such as Alex Gopher, Laurent Garnier, and Etienne dé Crecy has played. Trigbag dissolved in 2000, and Trentemøller chose a 2-year break from the House-scene.

With a string of legendary remixes on labels both obscure and renowned, together with his famous live appearances performing exquisitely tight live keys together with dj-sets from his mate DJ T.O.M. around the world, the buzz about Anders have kept going in the global dance community.

Now Trentemøller is back with his unique sound.

In January 2005 ‘Beta boy’ was released on Out Of Orbit Records, and in Febuary 2005 Steve Bug released the Trentemøller EP ‘Physical Fraction’ on his new label Audiomatique, containing the tracks Physical Fraction, Rykketid and Prana. The EP got massive airplay from various DJ’s all over the world, and went straight to number 6 at the German top 50 single hitlist (Groovemagazine) together with his Run Jeremy’s Window Licker bootleg.

The German music magazine De:Bug reviewed it and gave it full points : “You don’t need to search any longer for the smoothest hit of the season” – Bleed.

Trentemøller has already managed to develop his own signature sound; the fascination of his music lays within the contrast between large and vast echo chambers and sharp, direct in-your-face sound bits.

A typical ‘Trentemøller-sound’ that always leaves room for a lot of unexpected turns and twists. In April he released his first EP on german-based label Poker Flat called ‘Polar Shift’. The title track is a highly elaborate tech-tune and a classy 12″ that will rock advanced dancefloors, but also offers enough ‘brainfood’ for an electric listening session.

Trentemøller received the award ‘Up Front Release of the Year’ at the Danish DJ Awards in 2004 and in 2005 he won the price as ‘Producer of the year’

Maetrik

22/03/2008

Eric Estornel, under the names MAETRIK, MARIEL ITO, and simply ESTORNEL – has been contributing to his musical world around him since 93. First a dj, and later developing his skills as a producer, Eric has always searched for the future of electronic dance. Not being confined by rules of styles or genres is most important to Eric, as he makes his way through a political and fickle industry.

Eric as Maetrik has released music on such respected labels as Treibstoff, SubStatic, Morris Audio, Onitor, Immigrant, Iron Box Music, and many others. 2001 first saw him appear with releases on Immigrant and Treibstoff. Then in 2002 he took it further by helping label owner Bernhard Pucher (Brian Aneurysm) launch the label Iron Box Music, which has done extraordinarely well as of late. Eric also apeared on Chalant and Intrinsic Design in 2002, but really made his mark with the release of his debut album on Treibstoff titled “Quality Exertion”.

Then in 2003 more stunning releases and remixes followed on Treibstoff, IronBox, and Morris Audio City Sport. Then in 2004, after a couple of high quality releases on Sub Static, Iron Box, and Onitor, Eric layed low to concentrate on his 2nd album under the moniker Maetrik for Treibstoff.

Titled “Casi Profundo”, Eric’s 2nd full length album proved to be an amazing release in 2005 with charts and mixxes everywhere supporting the ever growing Maetrik sound. Up untill this point people had only Seen Eric record as Maetrik, Estornel, and Jell Cell (w/ b aneurysm), but 2005 also marked the beginning of a new chapter in Eric’s production – MARIEL ITO. With a punishingly precise release as Mariel Ito on the very collectable label Modern Love, Eric proved once again his love for foward thinking techno and now electro

Electro has always been Eric’s true passion, and to demostrate his skills as a new Electro artist, Eric as Mariel Ito released a brutal yet thoughtful debut LP on the world reknown SCSI AV label in October of 2005. Titled “My Cyborg Depths”, it’s a stunning journey into Eric’s mind as an electro operator and discoverer of the deepest corners of the electro sound.

With many other releases and remixes due out later this year and in 2006 on various electro and techno labels, Eric is keeping busy honing his Mariel Ito and Maetrik monikers. Be looking out for releases on Treibstoff, Affected Music, IronBOX, Morris Audio, Tic Tac Toe, Scsi AV and Modern Love in the weeks and months to come…

Patrick Bateman

2/06/2007

Yeah, we know – you might have given more notice to the blood and gore of the character from the Bret Easton Ellis novel, but one thing’s for sure: That Patrick Bateman knew how to party. Same with this one. Already a household name when the Danish club scene exploded in the late nineties, Kenneth Broxgaard aka. DJ Patrick Bateman has been a key party player for a decade. He’s a prime son of a Danish club/techno/electro scene that just keeps on getting better and better and he knows all the artistic effects down to the last beat – from vicious hard minimalism over luscious deep tech-house to wicked, wicked electro.

He started spinning records in the early nineties with the early boy love for Inner City, Italian house and rave music – and in the years that’s followed; Patrick Bateman has covered huge amounts of space in an ever curious exploration of electronic party music.

In 1994 Patrick Bateman started out as a promoter, and in 1995 he met DJ Peter Lundgreen, who Bateman started the club Hypnotic Basement with. That club had it all. Underground sound and atmosphere. It was a huge success in a Danish club environment that then was just on the verge of moving from the strictly nerd-driven underground to the energy-driven party craze that it is today.

In January ‘98, The Rocket Club was started, a monthly based techno and house club with both local and international DJs and live acts – and of course Bateman and Lundgreen as resident DJs. This club is now a very well known name in the Danish clubbing encyclopaedia.

Musically, Detroit techno and Chicago house made a huge impact on Patrick Bateman in ’95 – and so did the looping mono techno from Sweden and the UK in ’98. But minimal techno and house have always taken up major parts of Bateman’s all-embracing record shelves. Since ‘99/’00, he has been spinning minimal techno and house exclusively – German style and with the odd twist of electro and old school classics thrown in for good measure.

The last 4-5 years, Patrick Bateman has really made his mark. Touring everywhere in Denmark and many venues in Europe, Bateman’s remarkably energetic, spot free sets have presented the minimal techno/house vibe to an audience that’s moved from curious to responsive to exhilarated.

The guy may not be guzzling blood like his alter ego – but he’s a superb party DJ.

In 2004, Bateman started the label Tic Tac Toe Records. The label will be focussing on minimal house and techno, primarily from all the Danish talents, but also with international acts. The first 3 releases are already sold out, and have been played and charted by all the big DJ’s. Bateman has also started producing music and the first outcome of that can be heard on Tic Tac Toe Records number 5, where he has remixed a track by Canadian Pheek, together with Martin Decara (3rd Floor Records).

Jack Rock

11/07/2006
In his home-town of Aarhus, Denmark, Jack Rock is a well-known dj and party organizer.
He was one of two brains behind the legendary “Röv” club nights in 2002 bringing techno back to Aarhus in a period where only boring deep house and RnB were served up at the clubs.
These days he is part of the infamous OPP-crew who organize a line of very popular illegal raves at various locations.
As a producer, Jack Rock is rooted in a profound and geeky love for the technical and experimental side of sound technology.
He has a university background in both sound theory and interactive sound design, and he has created sonic environments for art installations and theatre.
Musically his base is 90’s electronica such as Autechre and Aphex Twin. In high school he discovered partying, though, and things took a turn towards progressive house and trance. These were the genres that got him started as a dj as well. Soon he got tired of the cheese and started diving into breakbeat and techno instead.
Today he is making his moves both as a dj and producer in the post-minimal techno scene where there is plenty of room for trancy elements to break through the wall of sound. He has a strong focus on the rythmic side of things but likes to keep his productions and dj-sets “musical” in the sense of tones and harmonic elements having an important role.
Jack was nominated as “producer of the year” at the Danish Deejay Awards (DDJA) 2008.
