To celebrate my nomination as Dj Of The Year at the iByen Awards,hosted by one of the leading newspapers in Denmark, I decided to do a quick mixtape.

The mix represents several different aspects of the styles that I play:It’s a bit deep, a bit funky, a bit techy and a bit bangin’ without compromising the quality of the mix.

It’s one of the reason’s I rarely do mixes: To me a mixtape is something completely different form club gigs: A mixtape has to be made in such a way that it is audible in the comfort of the listeners home, a preference that rarely fits my club sets.

They are bangin’, noisy, deep, joyeus, experimental and intuitive, an excursion made by me together with the audience into different grooves and sounds:

The further the audience can go, the further I will ram it up their alley!

Normally will throw around a lot more with the tunes at such a night, playing classics, techno and house back and forth, but when it comes down to doing mixtapes I always get anal: It’s important for me that people without much knowledge of the musical style still will be able to listen to the mix and catch something from it, whether it be love or hate.

I guess it comes from being oldschool: Back in the days I was forced to be very persuasive in my playing style at the local clubs: You either got the floor rocking or you got the boot from the promoter and since the audience didn’t really know shit about music,you had to have the ability to persuade them into liking it, simply by playing and feeding it to them the right way and I guess that attitudej ust stuck with me.

It took me about three days to programme this mix and I had three near breakdowns during that short period oftime, simply because I didn’t felt that I achieved the level of accesibility and perfection needed thus ending up hating myself and the bloody mixtape contemplating on how to terminate my career as soon as possible.

It’s always been like that and don’t really know where it stems from but I guess it keeps me hungry and always on my mark, and that’s just the way I like it baby…
